- Love Your Self — discover how to improve body image and clarify values
- Be True To Your Self — enjoy intuitive eating and mindful meal skills
- Express Your Self — safely explore emotions as healing messengers
- Give To Your Self — practice self-care to replace eating disorders
- Believe In Your Self — implement relapse prevention for ongoing success
During this eating disorders conference, you’ll learn what these principles mean from a coaching and clinical standpoint, and you’ll also explore how to practice these principles in your own life. This 18-HOUR CEU EVENT occurs over a 3-DAY WEEKEND and is limited to 20 PARTICIPANTS. These LIVE EVENTS are conducted four times a year, so you can choose the weekend dates that work best for you.
This experiential program is based on previous in-person retreat weekends hosted by Dr. Dorie in Colorado. You’ll feel like we’re TOGETHER and CONNECTED – albeit via ZOOM.
SPECIAL BONUS: Participants also receive a 1-HOUR, 1-on-1 ZOOM CALL with Dr. Dorie! This call may be completed before or after the retreat weekend.
*** PREREQUISITE: COMPLETE LEVELS I & II BEFORE THE LEVEL III RETREAT***
This experiential virtual retreat is conducted by the creator of EDIT™ – “Dr. Dorie” McCubbrey, PhD, MSEd, LPC, LAC, CEDS, who is the President of the EDIT™ Training Institute LLC. Additional facilitation and instruction is provided by Rachel Stokes, an EDIT™ Certified IV – Eating Disorder Recovery Coach who is also the Coaching Director for the EDIT™ Training Institute LLC.
During the opening evening session, Dr. Dorie and Coach Rachel will welcome you to the EDIT™ Certified III online eating disorders conference. They’ll cover learning objectives, guidelines for participants, and requirements for certification (*including attending ALL of the sessions).
Dr. Dorie will then lead a discussion about each of the five EDIT™ Principles. You’ll deepen your understanding of what each principle means, through illustrations of these principles in creative ways. Creativity enhances intuition, which facilitates your abilities to assist clients to shift from the voice of their eating disorder (ED) to the healing wisdom of their own Intuitive Therapist (IT) within themselves. This ED-IT transformation is an essential element of the EDIT™ approach.
You’ll have a 1-hour “special assignment” to complete on your own, either after the evening session, or before the next day’s morning session.
*Attendance required at ALL sessions for LEVELl III certification; if you have a conflict please email Dr. Dorie IN ADVANCE of the retreat to see if a make-up session is possible.
Dr. Dorie and Coach Rachel will guide you through EDIT™ Practices to share with your clients (and show you how to LIVE the EDIT™ Principles in your own life)! Here’s a “taste” of what you’ll experience:
- “Wake up” to a holistic sense of your True Self;
- Enhance intuitive abilities through metaphors;
- Explore the relationship between movement and mood;
- Discover the beneficial effects of creativity;
- Go on a mini-trip as your True Self!
This last item is your 1-hour “special assignment” to complete on your own during the break.
Dr. Dorie and Coach Rachel will begin this session with a discussion of the scope of practice for EDIT™ Certified Eating Disorder Recovery Coaches and EDIT™ Certified Eating Disorder Treatment Clinicians. You’ll learn the “line” between Coaching and Counseling (and other clinical professions such as Registered and/or Licensed Dietitians).
Next, you’ll discover the general criteria used for referrals to a higher level of care: Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), Residential Treatment (for ED and other diagnoses needing treatment), and Inpatient Treatment (for immediate psychiatric safety issues or medical stabilization).
Finally, Dr. Dorie and Coach Rachel will discuss how Coaches and Clinicians can collaborate, providing your clients with a team approach.
During the break, you’ll have a 1-hour “special assignment” to develop an action plan for how you can collaborate with other professionals and centers in your community (and worldwide).
In this final session of the day, Dr. Dorie and Coach Rachel will discuss how to apply EDIT™ to address the following areas, applicable for Coaches and Clinicians:
- Applications of EDIT™ to sub-clinical “Disordered Eaters,” Athletes, dual-diagnosis such as Substance Use Disorders (SUD), Trauma Recovery, Diabetics, and other coaching/clinical issues;
- Use of EDIT™ with children, adolescents, parents, couples & families, men, and LGBTQ+;
- EDIT™ Support Groups, Coaching Groups and Therapy Groups;
- EDIT™ IOP, conducted in a group setting or on a 1-on-1 basis.
You’ll have a 1-hour “special assignment” to pick three Advanced EDIT™ Skills and create a plan to integrate these into your practice.
YES! You get to be in the spotlight! If you’re becoming an EDIT™ Certified III – Eating Disorder Treatment Clinician, you’ll role play with Dr. Dorie (she’s your client). If you’re becoming an EDIT™ Certified III – Eating Disorder Recovery Coach, you’ll role play with Coach Rachel (she’s your client).
You’ll choose one of these four client scenarios – Anorexia Nervosa (AN), Bulimia Nervosa (BN), Binge Eating Disorder (BED), and Disordered Eater (DE). Dr. Dorie or Coach Rachel will role play this client for you.
Ten EDIT™ Worksheets have been pre-selected, two for each of the five EDIT™ Principles (these are included in your retreat workbook). You’ll pick ONE worksheet that you’d like to practice using during the role play.
Each participant will have about 5 minutes to role play, followed by feedback from Dr. Dorie, Coach Rachel, and other participants. We’ll all learn from each other!
NOTE: Some of you may love being in the spotlight, while others of you may dread the idea! Dr. Dorie remembers what it was like in grad school, when she was watched by her Professor and peers while conducting a session with a REAL CLIENT! It’s normal to feel nervous, and before the role play sessions, Coach Rachel will guide you in a visualization to shift your nervous energy into enthusiasm and confidence.
In this final segment of the eating disorders conference, this is your opportunity to ask Dr. Dorie and Coach Rachel any additional questions you may have. Discussion topics often include ways to continue enhancing your EDIT™ Skills, and ideas about attracting clients who need your help (including how to create your listing in the EDIT™ Directory).
Your 1-hour ZOOM call with Dr. Dorie will be customized to meet your specific needs! Practice more role plays, ask for feedback about your special assignments, explore ways to start or grow your own business – Dr. Dorie is here to support your success!
Schedule your 1-on-1 call before OR after the retreat.
